Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today's let's review SKIN1004's Madagascar Centella line. If you're active on social media, I'm sure you've seen many influencers raving about their products, but is it really worth the hype though? 🤔
SKIN1004 is a Korean skincare brand known mainly for their dedication towards extracting the best quality of Centella asiatica (in short, cica) to use in their skincare.
What can Centella asiatica really do for the skin?
Centella asiatica has proven benefits as an antioxidant, a rich source of amino acids and a good hydrating ingredient to soothe upset or compromised skin. There's also evidence that Centella can help revitalize the skin's protective barrier and mitigate some visible effects of sun damage. [Source here]
Personally, I find that cica works best for sensitive skin. It can be used by all ages, skin types, and ethnicities, but of course, the experience may vary according to each individual.

First Impressions
It's kind of funny how I got to receive SKIN1004's items from different platforms. My first item from them was the ampoule, which I received from Picky, the rest of my SKIN1004 products came from Review Hunters Malaysia, and I was lucky to get chosen to review their basic five. And hence, I'm able to give you guys the full picture of most of the products in their Madagascar Centella Line.
SKIN1004's products are all sent directly from Korea, hence it will take around 3-7 days after you place your order. All of their products come in sleek, matte carton boxes that are very nice to the touch and gives the brand a very premium and classy aesthetic.

Review
Gentle and lightweight soothing oil that's suitable for daily-use in removing SPF and minor impurities. I was very genuinely surprised at how gentle it was on my dry skin, it didn't leave it stripped at all. I recommended this to all skin types, but do note that it has rose and geranium oil in it, hence the pleasing floral scent.
Unfortunately, it didn't work so well on stubborn makeup. It had no issues with eyeshadow and foundation, but when it came to eyeliner and mascara, it struggled. Maybe you can try leaving it on the makeup for a longer time before wiping it off or use more of the product, but at this price point, it's ineffectiveness on removing makeup became a downside for me since I also review makeup and curate looks a lot of the time.
I'll still give it a 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ still because of how gentle it was. I rarely come across cleansing oils that do not strip my skin and I will still continue to use it, just need to put some effort into removing the makeup.

Review
This cleanser is a foam cleanser that's very suitable for combination and oily skin. It's fine on dry skin, but it's just a little heavy so I use it only once a day in the evening. My skin felt a little tight after use initially but it got used to it after. It's still very efficient and doesn't leave the squeeky-clean feeling on your skin after use.
I gave it a 3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ rating because this product needs a little extra effort for it to work on my skin. I use hydrating serums and ampoules after along with a good moisturizer to make up for it. Generally I don't think it's suitable for dry, dehydrated skin, but I'm very sure it will work well for any other skin type. I also tend to prefer gel cleansers as well. So if you're not as picky as I am, I'm sure this product will be suitable for you. It also doesn't have any harmful ingredients and is generally non-comedogenic and fungal acne safe. Some people complained about it's natural scent but I don't think it's an issue.

Review
A soothing toner with mild PHA suitable for daily use. Suitable for combination or oily skin, not so much for dry skin unless you are dry and sensitive. It somehow made my skin a little tight after using it, it absorbs super fast but didn't do much for me. I wouldn't say it gave much hydration though, but since I have very dry skin, this factor may differ with people with other skin types. The mild exfoliation is very beginner friendly but not very efficient if you're more advanced in skincare.
My friend with sensitive skin loved this, but for me I have to give it a 3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ rating. Someone on Picky even called this expensive water 🤣 But in my opinion, you can give this a shot if you really like centella and have sensitive skin. Depending on your skin concerns and what you like in skincare (ex: for me I look for hydration and anti-aging), you will like this if you're looking for a soothing toner.

Review
A basic, fool-proof 100% Centella asiatica ampoule. I believe this is their most raved about product, even the usual skincare YouTubers I watch recommended this. But somehow, it just wasn't worth the hype for me. It has 100% Centella, it's great when you like cica, but my dry, resilient skin doesn't seem to care about it 😂 If you already have Centella in your other products, this doesn't seem like a must-have.
It absorbs quickly into the skin like the toner, but again, it didn't do much for me. The hydration factor is better than the toner, but still not decent enough for me. I also give it a 3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ rating. Again, I'm sure most people will like this (?) Since there are a lot of positive reviews, it makes me feel like there's something wrong with my product. Do get a mini and try it if you really like centella and have sensitive skin.

Review
Decent moisturizer that's great for combination and oily skin. Suitable for day-use, this also has another variation (Madagascar Centella Cream) that is meant for the night. This provides an adequate amount of moisture even for dry skin, the only downside is that it's not considered non-comedogenic. It's has quite a light consistency, hence you may need something heavier for the night to lock in moisture.
There's a brown hue to the cream though it sinks into the skin easily, the finish is just a little tacky but I don't find it a big issue. I actually quite enjoyed using this and I'll give it a 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I definitely see myself finishing it.

Everyone knows I leave the best for last (nah it just happened to be SPF so I put it last lmao). If you were to get one item from this line, buy 👏 this 👏one 👏!
I swear if it was non-comedogenic, it would be my holy grail. This sunscreen gives a natural tone-up look with a gorgeous matte finishing. Not really a true matte, just a natural not-oily type of a look. It's also not sticky and gives a super nice base for makeup. I also quite enjoy the fragrance that's not too heavy. Giving it a 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨, highly recommended!
TL;DR - Hit and miss, love the SPF!

The majority of these products are definitely more suitable for combination or oily skin. I believe their Hyalu-Cica line would be more suitable for my dry skin and I hope I can try it in the future.
